The 18" MIL Intellitube® functions normally in both direct-wire (ballast not required) and direct-fit (compatible with ballasts) installation modes. In direct-fit mode, it can replace an existing fluorescent lamp. In the event of a ballast failure, in direct-wire mode, will provide the highest efficiency and eliminate any dependence on a ballast.
